My name is Ilona Aleksejeva, I am from Latvia. I am writing to you for asking your advice about the possibility to apply for PhD studies (at the Graduate School of International Politics (Aoyama University)) under your supervision.

I will briefly make a short presentation of my education: In July 2006, I have graduated master Program in National Taiwan Chengchi (Political) University (NCCU).
My master Thesis was about " Trade dependence between Taiwan and mainland China from the global communication theoretical framework (1979-2005)." The above question was research with a use of theoretical syntesis based on communication theory, elite theory, world system theory and dependency theory.

However, my futher research I decided to dedicate to:
" World order as a main discourse in the foreign relations between EU and Japan."

During my studies in NCCU, I was a research assistant for the Dean of the department of Social Sciences in NCCU and involved myself to research activities related to EU and Asia-Pacific issues.
I have graduated Latvian National University departments of Social and Communications Sciences in Riga. I can fluently speak Latvian, Russian, English, Chinese (speaking) and German languages, and I am a beginner in Japanese and French languages.
In Latvia, I have attended Japanese language courses which took place in the Latvian Academy of Culture from 15th December 2006 till 20th of June 2007.

Research on Asia-Pacific countries make me realize the high importance of Japan in the context of globalization, that's why I would like to continue studies in Japan.
